Information we collect
We collect information you provide or create while using the service:
- Account information: name, email address, authentication credentials, account identifier, handle, avatar, and profile information.
- Household and trip information: household name, adult, child, and pet counts, RSVP and reservation status, trip membership and role, campsite labels, destinations, dates, and plans.
- Planning content: tasks, assignments, supplies, meals, recipes, groceries, nearby recommendations, and campground or crew-map pins.
- Shared-expense information: descriptions, amounts, split rules, participants, balances, and settlement status. The current release does not collect card or bank-account details.
- Campfire content: posts, comments, polls, reactions, reports, and sharing choices submitted to a private trip group.
- CliffAI content: prompts, voice transcripts, assistant responses, citations, action proposals, confirmations, and results.
- Support and security information: request details, session information, timestamps, moderation records, and audit events needed to protect the service.
How we use information
- Create, authenticate, support, and delete accounts.
- Provide invitations, private trip plans, RSVP, meals, groceries, expense records, maps, Campfire, and related features.
- Show authorized trip information to accepted members according to role and household permissions.
- Provide CliffAI answers and carry out only supported, user-confirmed planning actions.
- Display and measure clearly labeled contextual sponsor placements.
- Secure the service, prevent unauthorized actions, investigate reports, and maintain required audit records.
We do not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
How information is disclosed
Your private trip group
Accepted members may see names, household attendance, campsite assignment, shared plans, meals, groceries, Campfire content, crew pins, and shared-expense information according to their role. Your personal CliffAI conversation history is not available to other trip members through the current app.
Service providers
Vendors may process limited information to host, authenticate, secure, transcribe, generate AI responses, and support the service. The current architecture uses Supabase for backend services and OpenAI for CliffAI text generation and optional voice transcription.
At your direction or when legally required
Information may be sent to a campground, map, PicSpot, app store, or another service when you intentionally open or connect it. We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, defend claims, or complete a protected business transaction.
AI and voice processing
CliffAI sends the text needed to answer your request and the authorized trip context needed to ground the answer to our AI provider. Voice questions are sent for transcription, then treated like text prompts. Raw voice audio is not intentionally retained by Camp Van Cliff after transcription completes. Transcripts remain in the conversation until the associated data is deleted.
CliffAI requires visible confirmation before consequential planning actions. The current release cannot complete a real campground reservation or charge a payment method.
Retention and security
We retain account and service information while an account is active and as needed to provide the service. Limited records may remain after deletion when required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement. Temporary crew pins expire according to the duration selected in the app.
Safeguards include authenticated sessions, encrypted network transport, role-based access, row-level database security, server-held credentials, and confirmation requirements. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may update available information in the app, deny optional microphone permission, request account deletion, or contact us. We may need to verify identity before completing a request.

Children
Camp Van Cliff is intended for people age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 may not create their own account. An adult may record aggregate child attendance counts for planning but should not submit a child's full name or sensitive information. Contact us if you believe a child under 13 provided personal information.
International processing and changes
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. We may update this policy as the service or law changes and will revise the date above and provide additional notice when required.
